Your Work Remains Yours
Perkins exists to help writers think more deeply about their manuscripts. It is not a publishing platform, a social network, or a place where your work is collected for other purposes. Your writing belongs to you.
What Perkins Stores
Perkins stores only the information needed to preserve your editorial relationship. This includes:
- Editorial Letters
- Conversation history
- Work titles and metadata
- Writing Studio entries
- Margin Notes
- Writing Studio materials you choose to save
- Your account information
These allow you to return to your work over time.
What Perkins Does Not Store
Unless you explicitly save something into Writing Studio, Perkins does not permanently retain your manuscript. Each Conversation works like this:
- You upload a manuscript.
- Perkins prepares an Editorial Letter.
- The manuscript is discarded once the Conversation is complete.
The Editorial Letter remains. The manuscript does not.
Writing Studio
Writing Studio is different. Anything you place there is intentionally stored, because you asked Perkins to remember it. Studio items are typed as:
- Draft pages
- Scene work
- Freewriting
- Character notes
- Chapter outline
- Synopsis
- Timeline
- Worldbuilding
- Query letter
- Research notes
- Map notes
- Other
These become optional context for future Conversations. You choose when they are included.
Revisiting a Conversation
When you revisit a Lens, Perkins remembers the previous Editorial Letter. It does not reuse the previous manuscript. A new Conversation always requires a new upload.
Your Writing Studio and Letter Notes
Writing Studio entries and Letter notes belong to you. They are private. They are never shared with other writers.
AI Models
Perkins uses large language models to prepare Editorial Letters. Your manuscript is transmitted only for the purpose of preparing your Editorial Letter. Perkins does not use your manuscripts to build a public corpus of writing.
We Don’t Optimize for Engagement
Perkins isn’t designed to keep you clicking. There are:
- no public profiles
- no followers
- no feeds
- no streaks
- no leaderboards
- no recommendations based on other writers
The relationship is between you, your manuscript, and your editor.
Deleting Your Account
You can request deletion of your account by writing to privacy@perkinscraftanalysis.com. When your account is deleted, Perkins deletes the editorial records associated with it, subject to any legal obligations that require temporary retention.
